See if you qualify for energy-saving measures through the GBIS
The Great British Insulation Scheme, previously known as ECO+, is a government initiative administered by Ofgem that aims to improve the energy efficiency of the least efficient homes in Great Britain. It seeks to alleviate fuel poverty and reduce energy bills.
Unlike the comprehensive Eco4 program, this scheme focuses on individual insulation measures. It supports low-income and vulnerable households living in homes with Energy Performance Certificate ratings of D to G and within Council Tax bands A to D in England or A to E in Scotland and Wales.
The scheme, which runs from April 2023 to April 2026, requires medium and large energy companies to implement energy-saving measures.
GBIS Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify for free or discounted insulation to help lower your home’s energy bills.
Support may be available if your home meets these criteria:
- Has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G – check your EPC.
- Falls within Council Tax bands A-D in England, or A-E in Scotland or Wales – check your Council Tax band.
Homeowners, landlords, and tenants (whether renting privately or from a housing association) are eligible.
If you’re a tenant, please consult your landlord before applying, as their permission will be needed before any insulation work can begin.
