See if you qualify for energy-saving measures through the ECO4
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a UK government initiative to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions. Starting April 1, 2022, and running until March 31, 2026, ECO requires energy companies to implement energy efficiency measures in homes rated D-G, prioritising private homes in E-G.
New minimum requirements mandate that homes in bands D and E be upgraded to at least band C. In contrast, F and G homes must reach band D. Measures include insulation, first-time central heating, and renewable energy solutions. A portion of energy bills (7-13%) funds ECO, helping to lower energy costs for inefficient properties and improve overall energy efficiency.
ECO4 Eligibility Criteria
Property Requirements:
Only homes with an energy efficiency rating of D-G are eligible for ECO4. For social housing and privately rented properties, ECO4 is available for the least efficient homes, specifically those in bands E-G.
Financial Requirements:
Households receiving means-tested benefits are automatically eligible. For those not on benefits, you may still qualify through ECO Flex if your local authority offers this option. Eligibility includes households with an annual income below £31,000 (pre-tax) or individuals with a chronic health condition under one of the following categories: cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions, limited mobility, or immunosuppression.
